Taylor Barfield is a New Jersey-based dramaturg, scholar, and theater artist with a decade of experience in new play development, script development, producing, and artistic curation.

 

He served as the Acting Literary Manager at Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, CT and the Literary Manager at Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ. Before that, he served as the Associate Artistic Director at Collaboraction Theatre Company in Chicago, IL. Taylor has worked with theaters across the country including The Guthrie, Court, Portland Center Stage, Second City, The Playwrights' Center, The August Wilson African-American Cultural Center, and Page 73.  

 

His scholarly work explores how contemporary Black American playwrights re-imagine and re-stage Black theater history. His writing has been published in Vulture, TDF Stages, and the Marginalia Review of Books.
